The Investigator | Geauga County Health Commissioner loses job

The Geauga County Board of Health voted 3-0 to terminate the contract of controversial health commissioner Robert Weisdack.

Geauga County — The Geauga County Board of Health voted 3-0 to terminate the contract of controversial health commissioner Robert Weisdack.

Weisdack has been the subject of numerous Tom Meyer investigative reports.

Two food inspectors under his command were convicted of misdemeanor charges for tampering with records. Investigators caught the two goofing off on the job and inflating the number of inspections they had done.

A federal lawsuit is pending against Weisdack and board members. Weisdack is accused of bullying and unfair pay practices.

He is also accused of awarding himself and others a no-bid tire contract.

Weisdack could not be reached for comment, and the board thanked him for his many years of service to the community.
