KENT, Ohio — The Kent Police Department on Thursday announced the death of one of its beloved K-9s, Aiko.

According to the department's Facebook page, Aiko had an eight-year career with the department before his retirement in January 2018.

Aiko died Tuesday.

The department says Aiko, teamed with Sgt. Jim Ennemoser, was deployed 472 times for 299 narcotics calls, 54 building searches and 62 tracks.

"The team had many successes in finds, sniffs and seizures," the department's Facebook page says.

After his retirement, Aiko remained with Ennemoser as the family pet.
