4-year-old boy sent to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital after alleged "physically abusive behavior" by a teacher's aide

Cleveland EMS tells 3News that the child is currently in stable condition, at this time.

CLEVELAND — A four-year-old boy is in stable condition at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's after an incident at St. Agatha St. Aloysius School in Cleveland. 

According to Cleveland Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Commander Chris Chapin, a four-year-old boy was transported to the hospital Tuesday afternoon, but he was unable to confirm any additional information at this time. 

"At St. Agatha– St. Aloysius School in Cleveland, the wellbeing and safety of our students is our top priority. Today police responded to an allegation that one of our teachers engaged in physically abusive behavior," the school said in a statement. "We take allegations of this nature very seriously. The accused teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation by civil authorities." 

School officials say that the matter remains under investigation.
