CLEVELAND, Ohio — Hurricane Dorian left thousands of people stranded in the Bahamas and in need of medical care.
Volunteers are stepping in to help, including a Cleveland-based air ambulance company.
“We were welcomed with open arms and have seen the devastation and the desperate need down there for medical supplies and for transport of those that are critically ill,” explains Aitheras Aviation Group Chief Financial Officer, Tim Dixon.
“We’re there to help people in their greatest time of need and I think this certainly is that kind of situation.”
Teams are making round trip flights from Florida to Treasure Cay, Bahamas and the crew in Cleveland is keeping in close contact.
“There’s nowhere for them to go, they’re out, exposed to the elements and at this point they’re just looking for someone to help them get to Nassau,” says Aitheras Aviation Group Vice President of Operations, Richard Newenhisen.
