Man faces assault charges for running over three people following fight in Akron

One of the victims suffered a broken leg as a result of being run over. Two others sustained minor injuries.

AKRON, Ohio — A 28-year-old man is facing felonious assault charges after police say he ran over three people with his car in Akron.

Police were called to deal with a fight at a home in the 1200 block of Neville Ave around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.  When officers arrived, they were directed toward a disabled and damaged vehicle parked near the the house.

Officers located three people, two men and a woman, ranging in age from 36-50-years old, on the ground and injured, after having been struck by a vehicle that was driven by Vernon Hollis.  

One of the victims, a 41-year-old man, sustained an apparent broken leg and was transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital.  

The other two victims were also taken to Summa Health Akron City Hospital. Police say their injuries were considered minor.    

After reviewing evidence on scene, detectives determined Hollis ran over the victims with his vehicle after an altercation that began inside the home.  

Hollis was charged with Felonious Assault and booked into the Summit County Jail.
