Akron couple, together for 15 years, says 'til death do us part' on Halloween

After being engaged for 15 years, Virginia and Jamal decided to finally tie the knot. They were married at Akron's Perkins Stone Mansion on Halloween.

AKRON, Ohio — After a 15-year engagement, Virginia and Jamal Rodgers felt it was finally the perfect time to tie the knot.

The Akron couple met back in 2007, but for the last few years, life seemed to keep getting in the way.

"Every time we would set a date, something would happen," says Virginia. "We just wanted it to be perfect and just do it the right way. But we kept pushing it off," adds Jamal.

What better time than Halloween? It's one of the couple's favorite holidays and Perkins Stone Mansion in Akron was the perfect place for their nuptials.

"Perkins Stone Mansion, that's totally my creepy vibe, so let's do it," explains Virginia. "I know that it's haunted. I know that there's a lot of good energy here, plus just good history."

It was 15 years too long. The Rodgers say they couldn't possibly wait any longer for happily ever after, even after hearing those words, "'til death do us part."

"I'm just ready to go in for the long haul. I'm all in," says Jamal.

"I believe that we've been together in past lifetimes," adds Virginia. "We're soulmates and we'll be together again, so for us it was one and done."

The theme at Perkins Stone Mansion was "Victorian Mourning," perfect for Halloween.

So what's next for Virginia and Jamal?

They tell us they want to buy a house with land, wince they've always wanted to plant a garden. The couple also wants to expand their family, Virginia says she hopes "Jamal Jr." will be next.
