AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man will serve life behind bars after he pleaded guilty to killing a woman and hiding her body in a storage unit in June.

Michael Olson, 35, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder, rape, grand theft of a motor vehicle, trespass in a habitation and gross abuse of a corpse in the murder of 68-year-old Katie Wohlfarth. Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Amy Corrigall Jones sentenced him to life without parole Tuesday.

Wohlfarth's family reported her missing June 17. Two days later, police found her body in an East Tallmadge Avenue storage unit. Olson was arrested after he was seen driving Wohlfarth's car.

Olson was spared the death penalty as a possible sentence in exchange for his guilty plea.
