High temps trigger weather alert for Saturday's Akron Marathon

Experts recommend runners slow their pace and stay hydrated.

AKRON, Ohio — Downtown Akron will be bustling with runners and their support teams Saturday morning as the Akron Marathon winds through the Rubber City.

The event features a full marathon, half marathon and team relay, all of which start at 7:30 a.m.

Despite the early morning report time, runners should note that a weather alert has been issued due to the heat. Temperatures are expected to sit in the high 60s at the start of the race, and could reach as high as 85 degrees during the final two hours.
