AKRON, Ohio — Two teenagers were arrested in Akron Thursday night after allegedly shooting a man during a robbery.

The teens are facing charges of felonious assault, aggravated robbery and weapons offenses.

Just before 8:30 p.m., Akron Police officers arrived on scene after receiving a call of a "suspicious person" in the 200 block of East Avenue. According to a business, two males with masks and gloves were seen looking into the windows of an establishment.

After arriving on the scene, officers located two teens on Battles Avenue, who ran away from the officers. While the teens were running, a shot was allegedly fired by one of the suspects when he was climbing over a fence.

Akron Police officers apprehended the teens and discovered two handguns and a bookbag after a short chase on foot.

Soon after, Akron Police found a 46-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the leg lying at a baseball field on Battles Avenue.

The victim told officials that he was at Prentiss Park and was approached by two males demanding his money and belongings.

Officers administered emergency first aid to help stop the bleeding and transported the victim to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center for further evaluation.

According to Akron Police, the victim is in stable condition and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Akron Police confirmed that "investigators determined that the shot fired from the suspect’s gun during the foot pursuit was an accidental discharge and not directed toward the officers."

At this time, no names have been released in connection to this incident.
