Couples get hitched for Halloween at Akron's Civic Theatre

Costumes are welcome!

AKRON -- Tying the knot doesn't have to be scary -- unless you want it to be.

Akron Municipal Court Judge Nicole Walker is performing weddings at the historic Akron Civic Theatre for Halloween Wednesday.

WKYC was there this morning, and we caught one of the ceremonies. See it in the video above.

The cost is $25 for residents within the court's jurisdiction: Akron, Fairlawn, Bath, Richfield, Springfield Township, Lakemore and a portion of Mogadore. Residents outside the jurisdiction must pay $40.

Interested couples must have a copy of their marriage license from Summit County Probate Court. They must also have the fee paid in full at the court clerk's office in the Harold K. Stubbs Justice Center.

After couples pay their fee, they should take their receipt to room 901 in the justice center to schedule a time slot for their ceremony.

Last year, Akron Municipal Court married 20 couples on Halloween, including one pair who dressed up as Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
