Hoban High School employee hurt as man steals truck at Akron school Saturday morning

'The victim was knocked to the ground when the suspect drove off with his vehicle.'

AKRON, Ohio — A 55-year-old man who works at Hoban High School was hurt Saturday morning during an incident in which an unknown suspect stole his truck from the Akron school.

The man was loading items into his truck at the school around 8:30 a.m. when police say the suspect approached and got inside the vehicle.

“The suspect then put the Chevy S-10 in reverse and backed away with the victim standing in the open door,” according to a press release from the Akron Police Department. “The victim was knocked to the ground when the suspect drove off with his vehicle.”

Police say the victim was taken to an Akron hospital for treatment with injuries to his head, neck and back. The victim’s truck, which is maroon in color, had an Ohio plate of JNV-2878. It has not yet been recovered.

The suspect was last seen wearing all blue clothing and was carrying a backpack, according to police.
