The city is partnering with Flowbird for collection of parking fees. So what does this mean for you?

First things first, you'll notice that there are new machines. The city of Akron recommends that drivers download the Flowbird app or visit their website to become familiar with the company's payment process.

The new parking meters will accept credit cards, coins, or payments through the Flowbird app. Paper cash will not be accepted. Meters will have a QR code that you can scan in order to pay via the app. Your cost for parking will be $1/per hour with a two-hour limit at most meters. Once your two hours is up, you can renew your time by using the Flowbird app.

Parking enforcement in the city of Akron will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking will continue to be free on weekends and holidays.

The city of Akron reminds drivers that if they prefer to park in one of its many parking decks or lots, you can check out this list provided by Downtown Akron Partnership.
