Teen arrested after allegedly pulling gun and stealing cell phone during Facebook Marketplace sale in Akron

Akron police say the suspect pulled out a handgun and took the victim's cell phone.

AKRON, Ohio — A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after allegedly pulling a gun on a seller during a Facebook Marketplace meetup in Akron.

Akron police say it was around 11:50 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Kenmore Boulevard when the suspect met with a buyer after arranging to purchase a cell phone.

The victim told police that when the buyer arrived, he pulled out a handgun, took the his cell phone and fled the scene on foot.

After developing a person of interest in the case, Akron police arrested the teen at a home in the 2200 block of 22nd Street Southwest. 

When officers searched the home, police say the victim's cell phone, two AK-47-style rifles and a 9mm handgun were recovered.
