The Akron Police Department is actively searching for a man they believe helped commit a robbery and murder on the city's west side last Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting occurred on the 1200 block of Everton Drive around 5 p.m., where a woman told police two men entered her apartment and took an unknown amount of cash before running away. The woman's boyfriend then chased the two suspects from the building, but was shot multiple times.
The victim, later identified as 27-year-old Diamond Smith, was pronounced dead at the scene. One of the suspects, 22-year-old Christian Pittman of Norka Ave., later arrived at Mercy Hospital in Canton with a gunshot wound and was arrested for murder. He is currently at the Summit County Jail.
Authorities say the remaining suspect is named Cenqunn Woods. He is described as being 5-foot-9 and weighing 150 pounds and should be considered "armed and dangerous.
