WAYNE TOWNSHIP — An 80-year-old man was killed in an Ashtabula car crash,Tuesday evening, the Ashtabula Post of Highway Patrol confirms.
Leonard Hoffstetter was traveling traveling east, in a 2007 Chevrolet C/K 1500,on US 322 just west of Stanhope-Kelloggsville road when he was struck by a 2005 red Ford F150.
The driver, 31-year-old Joshua Heilman failed to stay in his line and crossed the center line striking Mr. Hoffstetter head-on.
Mr.Hostetter was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mr.Heilman sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Distracted driving is believed to be a factor in the crash however, the accident remain under investigation.
