Crews search woods for signs of Ashtabula mom

Rand Hilal Al Dulaimi, a 23-year-old Ashtabula woman, disappeared July 9.

There are new developments in the search for a missing mother in Ashtabula County.

On Thursday, Rand Al Dulaimi’s ex-husband, Jeff Stanley, became an official ‘person of interest.’

His home on Ninevah Road in Saybrook Township also became the center of a multi-agency search.

From the air and on the ground, crews combed through thick acres of forest, while Stanley sat in the Ashtabula County jail on unrelated charges stemming from a parole violation.

It was not the first time his name has been in the news.

In March 2017, he triggered an amber alert in the disappearance of his then 1-year-old son, Omar.

It led to multiple charges and ultimately, a divorce from Al Dulaimi, a Turkish national.

More than a week ago she went missing, while neighbors say they recently began to see Stanley near her apartment.

“He hadn’t been coming around ‘til just recently, the past couple of weeks I guess,” said neighbor Carol Huffman. “He acted normal. I mean, he’d come in, he’d leave with no problems. I never heard anything or seen anything.”

The last time Al Dulaimi was seen, investigators say it was at Stanley’s home.

By many accounts, Rand Al Dulaimi was trying to get her life on track. She recently finished her first semester at Kent State’s Ashtabula campus, where she studied biotechnology.
