School bus involved in car crash in Plymouth Township on Monday

It is believed that the 41-year-old driver of another vehicle had a medical episode, which caused the crash.

ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio — A Jefferson Area School District School bus carrying seven students was involved in a head-on car crash in Plymouth Township on Monday.

Troopers were called to the area of state Route 46 near state Route 11 at 2:10 p.m. after it is believed that the driver of a black 2021 Chevrolet Traverse traveling north on SR42 suffered a medical episode, causing the car to go left of center and strike the bus that was traveling southbound head-on.

The driver of the traverse was identified as 41-year-old Regan E. Summers of Conneaut. Summers was transported to an area hospital for serious injuries.

The driver of the bus, 51-year-old Seanna M. Butler of Jefferson, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Of the seven students on the bus, one was transported from the scene to an area hospital for minor injuries, while the remaining students were treated at the scene.

The crash currently remains under investigation.
