Vigil held for Ashtabula teen, the latest drowning victim in Lake Erie

16-year-old Micah Nugent had been swimming on Wednesday when dangerous waves took him underneath the waters of Lake Erie.

They came to Walnut Beach to circle up and pray.

It's the same place where 16-year-old Micah Nugent had been swimming on Wednesday when dangerous waves took him underneath the waters of Lake Erie.

Micah passed away at the hospital, but for his immediate and extended families of faith he is the 26th Lake Erie fatality this year. On average, almost half of Great Lakes drownings happen in Lake Michigan, but Erie now leads the drowning statistics for the first time since 2010.

Prayers were also abundant for the Firefighters who pulled Micah from the water and performed CPR. Micah maybe gone, but his family still hopes and prays his life counts for something.
