Update: Body washes up on Lakewood coastline, identified as missing Westlake man

The first call of a body sighting came in at 5:41 p.m. Saturday to the Lakewood Police Department.

LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Lakewood police have confirmed that a body washed up along the coastline Saturday evening.

The first call of a body sighting came in at 5:41 p.m. to the Lakewood Police Department. Authorities say the body "washed up on the rocks" behind 12700 Lake Avenue.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has since identified the body as 35-year-old Adam J. Schwertner of Westlake. He was reported missing to Westlake police back on Sept. 2.

Authorities are investigating the circumstance surrounding his death, but foul play is not suspected.

"The body had no clothing or anything else that would lead to its immediate identification," according to a press release from the Lakewood Police Department early Monday. "It appeared that the body had been in the water for an extended period of time."
