VIDEO: Canton City Fire Department fights large brush fire at Spring Valley Golf Course

According to a Facebook post from the Canton City Fire Department, the large brush fire broke out at around 4 p.m. on Thursday.

CANTON, Ohio — Multiple Northeast Ohio fire departments responded to a large brush fire at Spring Valley Golf Course in East Sparta on Thursday.

According to a Facebook post from the Canton City Fire Department, the large brush fire broke out at around 4 p.m. 

Canton City Fire Department's drone was able to locate points of access, assist ground crews with the fire and search for spot fires with an onboard thermal imager. 

At the scene, multiple crews assisted, including East Sparta Fire Department, Marathon Oil, Mineral City Fire Department, Bolivar Fire Department, Canton Township Fire Department, Erie Valley Fire Department, Magnolia Fire Department, Mohawk Valley Fire Department, Massillon Fire Department, Jackson Township Fire Department, Plain Township Fire Department and North Canton Fire Department.

Yesterday, at approximately 1600 hours our UAV (drone) unit was dispatched to the Spring Valley Golf Course to assist in a large brush fire. Our UAV was immediately able to find points of access, assist ground crews to the fire as well as search for spot fires with our onboard thermal imager. Among the those dispatched included East Sparta, Marathon Oil, Mineral City, Bolivar, Canton Township, Erie Valley, Magnolia, Mohawk Valley, Massillon, Jackson Township, Plain Township and North Canton fire departments. Earlier this week, multiple other brush fires had been reported across Northeast Ohio. On Wednesday, firefighters responded to a large brush fire in Lake County.

The Chardon Fire Department also took to Twitter on Saturday, noting that after five brush fires, they are enforcing a burn ban between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the month of November.
