CANTON, Ohio — Crews rescued a man on Saturday after he fell from a bridge on Interstate 77.
According to the Canton Fire Department, crews were dispatched around 1:12 a.m. at mile marker 104.1 on I-77 northbound.
Crews found the man on a narrow strip of land between a concrete wall and the West Branch Nimishillen Creek. They determined he had suffered potentially life-threatening injuries from the near-60-foot fall from the state Route 30 westbound on-ramp.
Once the victim was stabilized, crews rescued him by rope and a basket, using a Canton fire truck as an anchor. Crews hoisted the victim up the wall onto I-77. He was taken to Aultman Hospital Trauma Center after the 30-minute rescue.
Authorities have not released the victims name, and an update on his condition was not provided.
