OSHP: Motorcycle driver seriously injured after colliding with car in Stark County

The operator of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and troopers say his use of alcohol is expected to have played a role in the crash.

CANTON, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a motorcycle and a car that took place Monday evening in Stark County.

Troopers say the incident happened on State Route 43 near 19th Street SE in Canton Township at around 6 p.m. A 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle was headed northbound on S.R. 43. The cycle was driven by a 64-year-old Canton man. A 2006 Jaguar S-Type, driven by a 45-year-old Oklahoma City woman, was heading southbound on S.R. 43.

The motorcycle went left of center and struck the Jaguar head-on. The driver of the Harley Davidson was ejected from his motorcycle and came to rest in the roadway. He suffered 'serious injuries' and was taken by Canton Township EMS to Aultman Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Jaguar was not injured in the crash. 

Troopers say that the driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet. They also believe that his alcohol use is expected to have contributed to the crash. 

The incident remains under investigaion.
