A vigil is being held Friday night in honor of a 14-year-old girl who was shot and killed this past weekend.

Members of the community are paying their respects to Sylvia McGee at the Southeast Community Learning Center on Sherrick Road Southeast tonight from 6 to 8 p.m.

You can watch our coverage of the vigil from WKYC's Facebook Live in the player below:

Sylvia, an eighth grade student at the Compton Learning Center’s Connections Program, was found shot to death near 11th St. and Bieyl Court Southwest Saturday morning. Loved ones have remembered her as a kind girl who had no trouble making friends.

"[She] was always funny, smiling, nothing ever dragged her down not one thing," friend Tabitha McCarthy told WKYC earlier this week.

No arrests have been made so far in the case. Grief counselors have been made available to students and will also be present at tonight's vigil.
