1 dead, 4 injured after weekend shooting in Cleveland

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police is looking for information to help identify a suspect stemming from a deadly shooting that took place early Saturday morning in the 7000 block of Bessemer Avenue.

At approximately 1:50 a.m., Cleveland officers responded to calls of a shooting at the location on Bessemer Ave. Victims and other bystanders helped the officers locate other victims while EMS made its way to the scene of the shooting.

There were a total of five people shot at the scene. 

  • Victim 1 - male age 21: Gunshot wound to chest, deceased 
  • Victim 2 - male age 22: Gunshot wound to ear
  • Victim 3 - male age 24: Gunshot wound to feet
  • Victim 4 - female age 15: Gunshot wound to leg
  • Victim 5 - male age 24: Gunshot wound to leg

EMS transported the 21-year-old and the 15-year-old to University Hospitals (UH). The 21-year-old was pronounced dead at UH.

The 22-year-old male and both 24-year-old males arrived at UH by private transportation.

Police learned as part of the initial investigation that the location had been rented out as an "after hours pool party". An altercation occurred and shots were fired by two unknown suspects. 

No suspects have been identified at this time. The shooting remains under investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact investigators at 216-25-CRIME. A cash reward of up to $5,000 may be available.
