1 shot dead, 8 others taken to hospital following house fire on Cleveland's west side; arson suspected

Officials have confirmed one person was found shot and eight others were injured during a house fire on Cleveland's west side early Saturday morning.

According to the Cleveland Division of Fire, the call came in around 3:34 a.m. on the 2100 block of West 95th St. A 51-year-old man was found shot in the head inside the home and was subsequently taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. He died there from his injuries.

As for the blaze itself, authorities say the home is "chopped up" badly and WKYC has confirmed arson is suspected. Eight others between the ages of 9 months and 41 years made it out from an upstairs unit and were taken to Metro for possible smoke inhalation, but were later released.

The incident id currently being investigated by the Cleveland police homicide and Cleveland fire arson units.
