EMS crews confirm 17 people (11 kids, six adults) were taken to local hospitals following a crash on Cleveland's northeast end Sunday afternoon.
Witnesses told WKYC that the driver of the car that was struck was Antoinette Ray, who is in her late-60s. Both she and her daughter, Kim Ray, are expected to make full recoveries.
The crash occurred on St. Clair Ave. between East 186th St. and Melville Road. Three vehicles were involved, including a truck that apparently had some people on the back flatbed. Witnesses say a car was attempting to turn into a church parking lot when it was rear-ended by a black Dodge Ram, which caused it to turn into oncoming traffic and be struck by a Chevrolet Avalanche.
Officials say all of the children are in stable condition (along with one adult), while two adults are currently critical at University Hospitals. One of those two was apparently ejected from her car.
The road was closed for a period of time, but has since been re-opened. Please stay with WKYC for more updates on this developing story.
