CLEVELAND — The 2020 Cleveland Pizza Week is wrapping up soon, but not without crowning a winner.
This year five local celebrities created a pizza for 3News judges Jason Frazer and Romney Smith. The pizzas included one from last year's champion Mike McIntyre from Ideastream, Cleveland City Councilman Matt Zone, Cleveland Cavaliers Mascot Sir. CC, Cleveland Comedian Mary Santora, and Urban Community School President, Tom Gill.
Jason and Romney judged all of the pizza based off of appearance, the amount of toppings, creativity, and of course, the taste!
The runner up, the pizza that tasted like "pure luxury" according to Smith, is Matt Zone's arugula prosciutto pizza! The winner is Mary Santora with her BBQ Chicken, pineapple, jalapeno pizza!
Frazer says the combination of sweet and spicy was surprising in the best way possible. Smith says she loved the amount of toppings, the BBQ sauce was great, and appreciated the sweet zingy taste!
Thanks to Ohio City Pizzeria for creating the pizzas for the judges to taste! All efforts from the competition will go to the Westside Catholic Center.
