6th suspect in shooting death of 9-year-old Saniyah Nicholson now in custody

18-year-old Aaron George was taken into custody by US Marshals in Solon

A sixth suspect in last week's shooting death of 9-year-old Saniyah Nicholson has been taken into custody.

18-year-old Aaron George was taken into custody in the 7400 block of Portage Road in Solon Tuesday afternoon. US Marshals developed information that George was working as a roofer in that area and arrested him without incident.

His arrest comes shortly after a fifth suspect, a 16-year-old juvenile, turned himself in.

The 16-year-old boy sought by Cleveland police turned himself in this morning, reportedly brought to authorities by his grandfather. He is the third juvenile involved in the case, along with two 17-year-olds.

Officials say Saniyah was in her mother's car last Wednesday evening when a group of teens exchanged gunfire with each other near Lee Road and Cloverside Ave. Saniyah was caught in the crossfire while her mother was picking her brother up from a boxing clinic.

In addition to the juveniles, two 19-year-olds—Devontae Nettles and Ce' Matizea Andrews—were arrested and charged with murder for their respective roles in Saniyah's death, and are currently being held on bond. Reward money is still available for anyone willing to offer information.

Calling hours for Saniyah Nicholson are scheduled for this Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Gaines Funeral Home in Maple Heights, with funeral services to follow the next day at Cleveland's Second Ebeneezer Baptist Church.
