Literacy and the arts was the focus of a celebration in downtown Cleveland on Thursday night.

The group America SCORES Cleveland held a Poetry Slam and handed out Calliope Awards.

America SCORES is an organization that helps kids use physical activity, creative expression and teamwork to build a strong mind and character.

The group's big annual event is the Jamboree Soccer tournament, which was held in May.

Thursday's event included a poetry reading and a silent auction.

Margaret Bernstein, WKYC's Director of Advocacy and Community Initiatives, was honored with a Calliope Award for the station's #WeReadHere campaign.
