City Council approves Cleveland Indians' $2 million donation to improve local baseball fields

The donations was authorized during Monday's council meeting.

A $2 million gift from the Cleveland Indians to improve local baseball fields was authorized at City Council Monday evening. 

The donation will facilitate the installation of synthetic turf baseball field at Luke Easter and League Park. In addition to the $2 million, the Indians charitable organization is funding$1.5 million in improvements to Brookside Park baseball fields. 

The projects coincide with Cleveland hosting the 90th Major League Baseball All-Star Game in July. 

The City of Cleveland will also donate $520,000 to the project.
