Cleveland Marathon to honor Taylor Ceepo, family with half marathon medal

The marathon will also be donating to Akron Children's Hospital in Taylor's memory

The family of 22-year-old Taylor Ceepo suffered an unimaginable loss last Sunday.

While running in the Rite-Aid half marathon, Ceepo collapsed and was pronounced dead upon arrival at University Hospitals.

According to a marathon spokesperson, Ceepo collapsed less than a mile from the finish line. On Sunday, her family will receive the award that was waiting for her: an official half marathon medal.

The Marathon took to Twitter Tuesday to make the announcement.

They also presented the opportunity for members of the running community to also give back in Taylor's memory: "The Cleveland Marathon will be donating to Akron Children's Hospital on behalf of the Cleveland Marathon community."
