Cleveland Police: 2 officers released from hospital after cruiser struck on I-90 West & I-71 South split on Innerbelt

The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash has been charged with OVI.

CLEVELAND — Six people, including two Cleveland Police officers, were injured on Friday night after a vehicle struck a police cruiser on the Innerbelt in Downtown Cleveland. 

The collision happened near the split of I-90 west and I-71 south when a Nissan Sentra struck a Jeep, causing the Jeep to strike the cruiser.

The two injured Cleveland Police officers were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. Four others from the Jeep also were hurt in the crash. All involved have since been released from the hospital.

The driver of the Nissan has been identified as 36-year-old Christina M. Karpinski. She was arrested and charged with OVI.
