Cleveland police offer $7,500 reward in search for Jeep that struck officer in hit-and-run incident

The incident happened on West 9th Street and Superior Avenue around 4 a.m.

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police announced a $7,500 reward Monday as they continue searching for a driver who fled the scene after striking an on-duty officer.

It happened near West 9th St. and West Superior Ave. around 4 a.m. Saturday morning. The officer was treated and released from the hospital, but has since been readmitted after suffering multiple injuries including several broken ribs.

Authorities say the suspect vehicle is a white 2019 Jeep Compass that should have "heavy" front end damage. Surveillance footage from the scene captured the vehicle driving away.

The reward money will be given to anybody with information "leading up to the arrest and conviction of this driver."

Anyone with information regarding the suspected driver's identity or whereabouts is asked to immediately call the Cleveland Division of Police's 3rd District Detective Bureau at (216) 623-5318.
