Cleveland Police responds to five homicides in 24-hours

The victims range in age from 18 to 83-years-old.

CLEVELAND — It was violent 24-hours in Cleveland, Friday. Local law enforcement responded to a total of five homicides. 

The first incident took place Friday morning with officials responding to the 3400 block of East 134th Street for a man shot. The victim, a 63-year-old man, was found lying in a driveway with a gunshot wound to his stomach. First-aid was administered and the victim was transported to University Hospitals where he was pronounced dead. 

According to witnesses, a man exited a blue vehicle walked up to the victim and shot him and then returned to his car and drove off.  

No arrests have been made. Police have not provided any additional information on a suspect. 

The second incident took place around 11 a.m. when police responded to the 3100 block of East 93rd Street for reports of a man shot in the parking lot of Little Eagle Food Market. The victim, a 31-year-old man, was administered care and transported to University Hospitals where he later died. 

No arrests have been made, the incident remains under investigation. 

The third incident occurred in the 7600 block of Colgate Avenue. The victim, an 18-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where he later died.

According to police reports, the victim was shot inside of a car and was pushed out. 

The fourth incident around 1a.m. Saturday. Police responded to the 1500 block of Ansel Road for reports of man lying in a courtyard with a laceration to the head. On scene, a second victim, identified as a 40-year-old man, suffering a gunshot wound to the chest was located inside of an apartment. Both victims were transported to MetroHealth Medical Center where the 40-year-old man was pronounced dead. 

According to police, the two victims were inside of an apartment partying with women and children when unknown men forced their way into the apartment resulting in a fight and the victims being shot. 

It is unclear how the second victim, a 43-year-old man, was injured. 

No arrests have been made. 

The fifth incident took place in the 9300 block of Manor Avenue. An 83-year-old woman was found dead inside her home by family members. Police believe the woman could have been shot by someone outside of her home sometime overnight. Police found evidence of several bullet hole on the home. 

No further information is available at this time.
