Could Cleveland be the next technology hub?
A new study by MIT professors Simon Johnson and Jonathan Gruber, called Jump-Starting America thinks so.
It recently ranked the top 102 cities that has the potential to develop high-tech, high-income jobs.
Cleveland ranked 6th on the list in a top 10 that saw several Great Lakes and Midwest cities place high:
- Rochester, New York
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Syracuse/Utica-Rome, New York
- Columbus, Ohio
- Bloomington/Champaign-Urbana, Illinois
- Cleveland-Elyria, Ohio
- Ames/Des Moines- West Des Moines, Iowa
- Binghamton/Ithaca, New York
- Cincinnati, Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana
- Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson/Lafayette-West Lafayette, Indiana
Akron-Canton-Massillon narrowly missed out on being in the Top 10, checking in at No. 14.
Jump-Starting America looked at several variables, including the amount of people ages 25 to 64, number of college educations, housing prices and more. The variables were bundled into 3 categories: Population, Education, and Lifestyle.
