CLEVELAND — Why travel when you can be a tourist in your own hometown?
That's the hope of Destination Cleveland. This week they are kicking off a new initiative to give residents a new perspective of Cleveland called "Be a Tourist in Your Hometown" weekend.
This is part of Destination Cleveland's Visit Me in CLE campaign, which aims to engage residents in growing the travel industry.
"Be a Tourist in Your Hometown" weekend is a special event designed to encourage Clevelander's to get out a try something new. It kicks off March 20 and goes until the 24.
During that time, special discounts will be offered along with tours throughout the city as well as an east side / west side challenge in which locals will have incentives to explore and learn about both sides of the city.
Great discounts include the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland Aquarium and an all-in-one University Circle Pass, which includes the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland History Center and Museum of Natural History.
There are also discounted tours through Trolley Tours of Cleveland, Walking Tours of Downtown and Playhouse Square.
