Former FirstEnergy employee and Cleveland resident in serious condition after being pushed by police officer during Buffalo protest

In the now-viral-video, an officer is seen shoving the man leading him to fall backwards and bleed from his head

CLEVELAND — A viral video has shocked the internet, showing an officer shoving an elderly white man (now identified as Martin Gugino), leading him to trip, fall backward and hit his head on the concrete.

In the video, the 75-year-old Gugino can be seen bleeding from his head and ears and lying still on the sidewalk as Buffalo Police officers continue to walk past him.

3News was able to find that Gugino worked for First Energy Corporation for nearly-20-years. Gugino reported working as a "Developer" for First Energy and Cleveland Electrical Illuminating from 1984-2003.

According to Mark Polancarz, an Erie Co. Executive, Gugino is currently in "serious but stable condition."

"This incident is wholly unjustified and utterly disgraceful," said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Twitter.

"I've spoken with Buffalo Mayor @mayorbyronbrown and we agreed that the officers involved should be immediately suspended pending a formal investigation."

The original video on Twitter has received more than 63-million views in under 24 hours.
