CLEVELAND — WKYC’s Dave Chudowsky sat down with Cleveland’s Bishop Nelson Perez – the first Hispanic Bishop -- not only in Cleveland -- but the entire Midwest.

The son of Cuban Immigrants, Perez has been passionate about immigration reform and is credited with being an energizing and inspiring force in both the Catholic community and the community at large.

Watch our full 16-minute conversation with Bishop Perez:

In their conversation, they discussed everything from the recent Notre Dame Cathedral fire, to the future of the Catholic Church, as well as the Church’s handling of sexual abuse allegations in which Bishop Perez reveals that the review he requested of the Cleveland Diocese’s handling of those cases is nearing a close and will be released soon.

Dave also got to know a different side of the Bishop as they discussed his love of movies, particularly the Star Wars and Harry Potter franchises, and learned that the New Jersey-raised Bishop is now a proud Cleveland sports fan.
