Shooting at Cleveland gas station leaves one dead, another injured

The 48-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

CLEVELAND — A shooting at a gas station on Cleveland's east side left one woman dead and another injured Tuesday, police report. 

Officials responded to the Sunoco gas station located at 4030 East 131st Street for reports of a woman shot around 4:30 a.m. The victim, identified as a 48-year-old woman, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

According to reports, a man accompanying the victim at the gas station began arguing with another woman. During their argument, two men approached on foot and began firing shots at the man. 

The unidentified man returned fire and fled the scene on foot. The 26-year-old woman, caught in the crossfire, was shot in the back and arm. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  There is no word on her condition at this time. 

The suspects are described as unknown males. No arrests have been made at this time.

The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to contact local law enforcement.
