Watch again: St. Patrick's Day parade returns to Cleveland

The parade was back after a two-year absence due to COVID-19.

CLEVELAND — It's back!

The Cleveland St. Patrick's Day Parade returned Thursday after a two-year absence due to COVID-19. The Parade Committee of the United Irish Societies of Greater Cleveland worked with the city of Cleveland to make it a safe and fun event for everyone.

The Parade Route for the 2022 St. Patrick’s Day Parade began at Superior Avenue at East 18th Street. The parade traveled west on Superior Avenue to Public Square, north on West Roadway and east on Rockwell Avenue, ending at Rockwell Avenue and Ontario Street. Roads crossing Superior Avenue throughout the route will be closed at Superior Avenue before and throughout the parade. The entire parade route was closed, meaning that observers were not to enter the parade route at any time.

Ride RTA downtown for $5

If you're looking to avoid parking and traffic headaches, RTA is offering a great deal to get to and from downtown on St. Patrick's Day. For $5, you can ride the RTA rapid round-trip.

Here are a couple of things you need to know:

  • Have $5 cash ready to purchase your round-trip ticket. Keep this ticket safe, as you will need to show it on your way back home.
  • $5 cash only round-trip passes are available at the following rail stations only: Brookpark, Puritas, Triskett, W. 117, and Tower City (Red, Blue and Green Lines)
  • Don't have cash? Don't worry. You can still purchase a one-way fare ($2.50) or an All-Day pass ($5.00) at a Ticket Vending Machine or on the RTA CLE mobile ticketing app.
  • Bring a mask because they are still required when riding any mode of RTA transportation.

Additional tips and information:

  • In case of lost children, the Child Reunification Center will be located at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Tower at 1360 West Mall Drive.
  • Port-a-Potties will be located throughout the Staging Area, along Superior Ave., and at Mall A.
  • Per the 2022 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Rules, the consumption of alcohol is not permitted in the Staging Area or during the Parade. This rule is strictly enforced, and is subject to police enforcement.
  • Arrive early to your destination. Leave home early enough to allow for ample travel time and parking.
  • If you see something, say something!  Report suspicious or criminal activity to law enforcement.  Call 216-621-1234 for non-emergencies.  Call 9-1-1 for emergencies.  Anonymous information can be provided by calling Crimestoppers at 216-25-CRIME.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Have fun and be safe.
