Human remains found on Cleveland's southeast side following out-of-state tip; suspect arrested

Cleveland police located skeletal remains buried on E 147th St. after a tip from a sheriff's department in Michigan.

Officials discovered human remains on Cleveland's southeast side Friday night after receiving a tip from a sheriff's department up in Michigan.

Cleveland police say they got a call from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office in Ann Arbor last night alerting them of the situation, and later located the skeletal remains buried on the 4100 block of E 147th St.

Authorities in Washtenaw County informed Cleveland officials they had 20-year-old E 147th St. resident Devontey Gaines Brown in custody for felonious assault and domestic violence against his mother. While he is considered a suspect in this case, he has not yet been charged in connection with the other person's death.

The victim's identity and cause of death are not known at this time. The matter remains under investigation.
