Mother, boyfriend charged in overdose death of Cleveland 2-year-old

The toddler's mother and her boyfriend face involuntary manslaughter charges.

CLEVELAND -- A mother and her boyfriend are both facing charges after a 2-year-old boy died with lethal doses of Suboxone and Benadryl in his system.

According to Cleveland police, 2-year-old Lorenzo Ealom was found not breathing by his mother in her E. 140th Street home March 3. He was pronounced dead at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.

Lorenzo's body showed no signs of violence, but homicide detectives conducted an investigation. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner found that the boy had lethal doses of Suboxone and Benadryl in his system.

On Monday, police announced involuntary manslaughter charges against the toddler's mother, 24-year-old Tessa Gadd, and her boyfriend, 32-year-old John Hines. Police say the two have not been arrested.

Police say the case will be presented to a grand jury for possible additional charges.
