Night Market Cleveland cancels 2018 season due to lack of funding

Organizers announced the decision to cancel the 2018 season in a Facebook post.

CLEVELAND -- Night Market, the monthly event that occurs in Cleveland's Asiatown neighborhood, has cancelled all of its 2018 dates.

In a Facebook post to its official page, Night Market organizers said the nonprofit fell short of its fundraising goal. The event was also hit by "unforeseen complications" that ultimately led to the decision to cancel the season.

Organizers say space has also been an issue as the event has grown.

"We had always planned to out-grow our physical location; we didn't anticipate it would be so soon," the Facebook post says.

Infrastructure is also listed as an obstacle, as the organizers noted that several tents used by Night Market vendors were damaged in poor weather conditions. Limited funding to repair the damages meant organizers had to limit the number of vendors permitted.
