Person shot outside Cedar-University RTA Station near Case Western Reserve; police searching for suspect

The alleged perpetrator fled up Murray Hill Road and is said to be wearing a green sweatshirt, brown sweatpants, and red shoes.

CLEVELAND — A 49-year-old man was shot outside the Cedar-University Greater Cleveland RTA Station near Case Western Reserve University on Thursday afternoon.

Officials say the incident took place around 3:10 p.m., and 3News photos from the area showed a heavy police presence around the train and bus stop. 

The victim's condition is not currently known.

According to the university, the suspect is currently at large after running away up Murray Hill Road in Little Italy. He is described as being an 18 or 19-year-old male who is between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 9 inches tall, and is said to be wearing a green sweatshirt, brown sweatpants, and red shoes.

At this time, RTA tells WKYC the station remains open and school operations appear to be continuing as normal, although CWRU is warning students and staff to be aware of more officers in the area. Anyone with information regarding the suspect's whereabouts is asked to immediately call the Cleveland Division of Police at (216) 621-1234.
