Playhouse Square breaks ground on apartment complex

Downtown Cleveland is continuing to develop.

CLEVELAND -- Downtown Cleveland is getting ready to welcome new residents.

Crews broke ground on a new apartment complex at Playhouse Square Thursday afternoon. The 34-story building will house 319 units and 550 parking spots at the corner of Euclid Avenue and E. 17th Street across from Connor Palace.

Officials previously said construction would begin last fall with an early 2020 completion date.

Developer Hines and Soloman Cordwell Buenz designed the building to be one of district's tallest, with glass stretching from floor to ceiling, painted aluminum panels and exposed cast-in-place concrete.

Amenities will include a courtyard terrace, pet spa, fitness center, heated lap pool and car charging and wash areas.
