President Joe Biden to visit Cleveland on July 6 to discuss economic plan

President Joe Biden will visit Cleveland next week to discuss his economic plan.

CLEVELAND — Following the Fourth of July holiday, President Joe Biden will make his return to Northeast Ohio. On Friday, the White House announced that President Biden will be visiting Cleveland on Wednesday, July 6, to discuss "remarks on his economic agenda and building the economy from the bottom up and the middle out."

More details regarding President Biden's visit, including the location, will be announced in the coming days.

President Biden's visit to Northeast Ohio comes amid concerns regarding inflation and gas prices, both of which have increased in the past few months. Last month, inflation in the United States hit a new 40-year high for inflation at 8.6%.

Surveys show that Americans view the current inflation as the nation’s top problem, and most disapprove of the Democratic President's handling of the economy. The topic of the economy has already been a major talking point for Republicans heading into this November's midterm elections.

Biden's return to Cleveland marks his first visit to Northeast Ohio since February, when he announced a $1 billion investment in Great Lakes restoration while in Lorain. The investment, which included a cleanup and restoration of the Great Lakes, marks the largest federal investment to have been made for Great Lakes restoration efforts.

"The Midwest built America," President Biden said at the time. "And we're building it again."
