Reward offered in case of deadly carjacking outside Cleveland church

Two males were detained and released by police.

CLEVELAND -- Police are still searching for the suspects who fatally struck and killed a woman with her own car outside a church Thursday.

Police say they had detained two potential suspects for questioning, but determined the males were not involved.

Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment of suspects involved.

The incident happened outside the Archwood United Church of Christ just before 2:30 p.m. Police say the victim, identified as 33-year-old Lesley DeJesus, was painting inside the church with her husband and two children when they noticed two men enter their car outside.

When DeJesus and her husband tried to intervene, she was struck by the car. She died at the scene with injuries to her head and body. Her children were not hurt.

The suspects fled the scene and ditched the stolen car near Pearl Road and Denison Avenue.
