'Farmers to Families' makes first round of food delivery to those in need in Northeast Ohio

Sanson Co. was awarded with a $6 million contract to supply fresh food and dairy products to families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CLEVELAND — On Monday, Sanson Co. delivered its first shipment of fresh foods and dairy products to the Northern Ohio Recovery Association on E. 55th St. 

The delivery is part of a new weekly program in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 'Farmers to Families Food Box,' which aims to provide families in Northeast Ohio essential food during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is great that local companies received the contracts and fabulous that the local community will benefit from this,” said Councilman Anthony Hairston, who represents the community.

Sanson Co. was awarded a $6 million contract to supply produce and dairy products to be distributed to regional food banks and other nonprofits.

Many other Northeast Ohio companies were also given contracts, including businesses like Miceli Dairy Products Co., Chef's Garden, and Wiers Farm Inc.
