Speed ruled a factor in deadly I-77 Cleveland crash

The crash happened when the driver of a Jeep lost control, police say.

CLEVELAND -- A 44-year-old woman is dead following an early morning crash in Cleveland.

Police say it was around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday when the driver of a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee lost control on I-77 North approaching the I-90 East / E. 9th Street exit.

The vehicle went off the left side of the road and landed on its roof.

The driver was pulled from the vehicle, but police say she later died at MetroHealth Medical Center.

“Speed was a factor in the crash,” police say.

The woman’s name has not been released.
