CLEVELAND -- Thousands of people packed Public Square in downtown Cleveland for the Earth day 'March for Science.'
With chants of “Stand up for Science,” the group held a rally before hitting the streets of Cleveland. Those people that WKYC talked with in the crowd were pleased and surprised by the turnout.
Many of the signs protested the proposed national funding cuts to science-based organizations, like the Environmental Protection Agency.
The 'March for Science' was held in cities nationwide.
According to the March for Science website: “The March is a grassroots effort to champion science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity, and advocate for its role in informing the policies that shape our present and future.“
